Our aim is to make a difference to the quality and range of services available both in our hospital and the wider community.

Make a difference

Your help assists us to support both the clinician defined infrastructure needs at the hospital and health related community services.

Volunteering

The charity’ s services would not run without our highly valued volunteers, either for our transport service,  shops in Blandford and Sturminster Newton, fundraising events or for helping in the community. They truly are vital to the continued success of the Friends and  without them we would not be able to operate.

If you are interested in volunteering for a role in one of our busy charity shops, simply click on the button below and make an application today.

If volunteering in the community would be of interest to you, please call Lisa on 01258 450095 for an informal chat.

Our Chairman

Steve Cole

“I have been a member of the Friends for many years. I started my working career in the NHS as an Apprentice Chef in 1969 and developed my career in various health settings across the country.  I came back to Dorset in 1985, working in Blandford Hospital to manage all the support services.  Finally, on my retirement I left as the General Manager of Community Hospitals and Community Services across Dorset.  The Community Hospital element of the service was always closest to my heart and on retirement I decided to continue my association with the Health Services by volunteering for the Friends. I love working for our community. The Friends allows me to be involved in the development and provision of a number of Community Services. It gives me great pleasure to meet both those we have helped and our volunteers who are doing such a great job for all of us.  I am very proud to be a part of Blandford Friends, they portray the best of what a charity can do”
